24: Wearing Makeup During BJJ Training and Competition

Episode Summary

Wearing makeup while rolling has been a big topic of discussion lately. We’ve seen strong opinions both for and against it.

In this episode, we compare and contrast Jen and AJ’s pre-competition beauty routines, talk about differing opinions, and share tips for getting makeup stains out of your Gi.

Tips for Getting Makeup Stains out of your Gi

Spray your Gi immediately with peroxide and then wash it.

Peroxide is also good for getting blood stains out.

AJ’s Makeup

  • Smashbox Primer
  • Urban Decay Eyeshadow primer
  • Stilla or Sephora waterproof eyeliner
  • Maybelline waterproof mascara
  • Ubran Decay all night spray

Tips for washing your BJJ Gi

  • Amway laundry detergent (Seriously. AJ says it really works that well)
  • AJ also uses Oxi clean in every single wash
  • Add Odoban to your wash if your GI is getting funky
